Evidence tells us that if we increase efforts to improve earlier awareness and diagnosis of cancer, it will save lives.
Cancer awareness presentations are probably our most popular awareness tool. Check4Cancer can provide presentations for the most common cancers. Presentations are developed and delivered by our medical staff with significant experience and understanding of the cancer in focus.
We know that cancer can be a difficult and emotive subject. However, the earlier awareness message is positive – and it saves lives! These awareness presenatations are not about preparing for the worst, and for most of you it’s not about diagnosis. It is designed to introduce you to and help you to learn the common symptoms of cancer, and the ways that you can share that information with others.
Presentations generally last around 40 minutes including 20 minutes for questions and answers. Where possible, with breast cancer for example, medical staff will use a model to explain self-examination and the difference between normal and abnormal lumps. All delegates will receive a hard copy of the presentation and the supporting information leaflet. The optimal number of delegates is 20 to 40 and some sessions will benefit from being made available to one sex only.
