OnlineBreastRisk

Who is it for?

  • Women aged 18+

Why get checked?

  • More than 55,000 breast cancers are identified every year in the UK, and it is now the most common cause of cancer death in women aged 25-49.
  • Contrary to popular belief, 80% of women with breast cancer have no family history of the disease, however, if women have a strong family history of breast cancer, it can significantly increase their risk.

How it works?

OnlineBreastRisk offers education and awareness about breast health and the risk of developing breast cancer, with training to show women how to examine their own breasts, as most breast cancers are found by women themselves.

  • OnlineBreastRisk includes an online personal breast cancer risk assessment*.
  • A one-off educational  20-minute OnlineBreastRisk appointment with a specialist breast cancer nurse.
  • Discussion of a women’s personal breast cancer risk and advice on how to reduce their risk.
  • Tuition from a Check4Cancer specialist breast cancer nurse on breast self-examination and signposting to typical abnormalities and symptoms.
  • A monthly e-mail reminder to be breast aware.

*The Tyrer-Cuzick model, or IBIS tool, is used to estimate the likelihood of a woman developing breast cancer over the course of her lifetime.

Mammogram

Who is it for?

  • Women aged 40+ with NO symptoms of breast cancer

Why get checked?

  • Several large studies around the world show that breast cancer screening with mammograms reduces the number of deaths from breast cancer in women aged between 40-69, especially in those aged 50+.
  • By detecting breast cancer at an early stage, breast screening using mammography has helped to reduce the death rate of breast cancer in women aged 50+ in the UK.

How it works?

This service requires the employee to attend a private clinic which is arranged through our customer call centre.

  • A screening mammogram is an X-ray of the breast used to detect breast changes in women who have NO signs or symptoms of breast cancer.
  • Our screening mammograms are double reported by two specialist consultant breast radiologists.
  • If an abnormality is found it will help to reduce the time to diagnosis, ensuring any treatment that is needed can be started straight away.
MyBreastRisk

Who is it for?

  • Women aged 30+

*MyBreastRisk is not suitable for women who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, including women with triple negative or bilateral breast cancer, and those diagnosed under age 45.

Why get checked?

  • By performing this one-off DNA test an employee will be empowered to take control of their own breast cancer risk and ensure that they are having the most appropriate screening.
  • They will be able to make lifestyle choices and behaviour changes that will protect them in the future.

  • Results of Lifetime Risk of developing breast cancer and a personalised screening programme based on the woman’s personal risk of developing breast cancer. There are three risk categories, Average, Moderate or High Risk.
  • Anyone considered to be within the ‘High Risk’ category will be offered a free genetic counselling session to discuss specific risk reduction strategies or further genetic testing.
