Check4Cancer seminar shows how businesses can help to fight cancer

Delegates from leading businesses gathered at Home House in London on 31 May 2016 to hear well-known experts discuss the current cancer epidemic and why it’s crucial for employers to address cancer in the workplace. 


Cancer accounts for 30% of long term sickness in the workplace. 

The breakfast seminar – introduced by Professor Gordon Wishart, Chief Medical Officer at Check4Cancer – revealed that there are more than 100,000 people of working age diagnosed with cancer each year with approximately 750,000 employees now living with cancer.  

How businesses can help to fight cancer – and protect themselves  

Dr Pixie McKenna – Clinical Advisor, General Medical Services at Check4Cancer talked the audience through the latest Cancer in the Workplace report which covered over 500 HR managers across the UK. She explained that the ‘worst thing’ for her was that 71% said that their organisations do not currently offer cancer awareness or early detection of cancer via screening or as a health benefit.
