HP Power of Pink

1 in 8 women will get breast cancer in their lifetime with this rising to 1 in 7 by 2024. Nearly 50,000 breast cancers are identified every year in the UK and it is now the most common cause of death in women younger than 35. Contrary to popular belief, 80% of women with breast cancer have no family history.

Important notice: Changes to corporate BreastCheck services (1st September 2016)

The good news is that if detected early enough, breast cancer can be treated successfully and survival rates are increasing.

What is BreastCheck?

BreastCheck provides employees with an in-depth understanding of their breast health, a personalised breast screening programme and tuition in how to check for changes that may lead to earlier detection and less treatment including surgery.

BreastCheck starts with an online risk assessment based on lifestyle and family history.

Once the assessment is complete, employees are contacted and booked in for a 20 minute consultation with a breast specialist nurse comprising:

  • A review of the risk assessment
  • A Clinical Breast Examination
  • Tuition in how to be breast aware and how to self examine
  • A personalised breast screening programme

Results are explained during the consultation with a written report and personalised breast screening programme issued within 5 days of the consultation.

Who is BreastCheck for?

BreastCheck is suitable for female employees of any age. BreastCheck provides an opportunity for women to learn about self examination and what to look out for. It’s never too early to learn this essential and potentially life saving information.

Where can employees have BreastCheck?

Employees can have a BreastCheck on employer premises if suitable facilities are available. The employer needs to provide a room that offers privacy along with a hand wash basin, access to the internet and a couch. This is the most convenient option for employees and also the most cost effective one for employers.

If facilities cannot be provided on site, Check4Cancer can provide a clinic or private hospital close to where the employee works or lives, however this option is currently only available in the London area except for existing corporate clients.

How much does BreastCheck cost?

Employers can receive a discount on standard pricing depending on volume. The list price for BreastCheck is £155. For company sponsored campaigns, prices are negotiable depending on company size and the extent of the service offering.

Communication

As well as providing information for employees choosing BreastCheck, we can also provide supporting material suitable for company intranets, posters, banners and table tents for employers to promote a screening campaign. We can also produce a company specific website co-branded for a campaign as illustrated below.
