Why bowel screening?

Early detection saves lives. Detecting bowel cancer (sometimes referred to as colorectal cancer) early can make a significant difference in treatment outcomes.

Check4Cancerߴs at-home Bowel Cancer Test is a NICE-approved, non-invasive qFIT (Quantitative Faecal Immunochemical Test) that looks for signs of digested human blood in your stools, as this can be the first sign of bowel cancer.

This test is designed for people without symptoms and helps you screen for early signs of bowel cancer from the comfort and privacy of home. It offers accuracy you can trust.

Why choose Check4Cancer for your bowel cancer screening?

When it comes to bowel cancer screening, not all providers offer the same level of service or tests that are appropriate for bowel screening. This is what sets us apart from other providers, ensuring you receive the highest standard of support and clinical care.

FAQs

What is the Check4Cancer at-home bowel cancer screening test?

Our kit utilises the qFIT test, a non-invasive, at-home screening tool that detects hidden blood in the stool - an early warning sign of bowel or colorectal cancer.

What is a qFIT test?

qFIT stands for ‘quantitative faecal immunochemical test’. It is the only bowel, or colorectal, screening test recommended by NICE in the UK. It uses antibodies to detect even small amounts of haemoglobin in stools and is used as a primary screening test for people without symptoms.

How accurate is Check4Cancer’s qFITtest?

The Check4Cancer qFIT test is highly reliable and meets stringent clinical standards, with samples processed in certified laboratories. By using a test that is more sensitive than that used by NHS England, Check4Cancr’s test will detect a greater number of bowel cancers and pre-cancerous polyps.

How soon do I get my results?

Your results will be delivered securely within five working days.

Is the test painful or invasive?

Not at all - this test is simple, non-invasive, and designed for your comfort and privacy.

What happens if my results indicate abnormalities?

Abnormal results may require further investigation, but they don’t necessarily mean bowel cancer.

Check4Cancer will support you with follow-up tests and consultations.

Do I need to prepare for an at-home bowel cancer screening test?

Minimal preparation is required. Before collecting your sample, you may need to avoid certain foods or medications, but rest assured, clear instructions are provided in your test kit.

How do Check4Cancer tests differ to NHS tests?
  • Age criteria: NHS screening is limited by age. It is usually offered every two years to individuals aged 60 to 74, although this is lowered to age 50 in some regions including Scotland. Check4Cancer’s BowelCheck test kit is available to adults over 45.
  • Sensitivity: By using a test that is more sensitive than that used by NHS England, our test will detect a greater number of bowel cancers and pre-cancerous polyps.
  • Proactive testing: Check4Cancer allows for early detection without requiring symptoms or meeting age thresholds.
  • Speed and convenience: Check4Cancer provides quicker access to testing and results compared to potential NHS waiting times.

Both options aim to detect bowel cancer early, but Check4Cancer offers greater accessibility and flexibility for proactive health management.
