Prostate Cancer
Prostate Cancer Diagnostic Pathway
The Prostate Diagnostic Pathway is an innovative, streamlined rapid access pathway for men aged 40+ with an elevated age-related PSA (prostate specific antigen) blood test.
The pathway allows men with an elevated PSA to access a multi-parametric MRI (mpMRI) scan of the prostate gland either before or after an appointment with a consultant urologist.
The use of mpMRI reduces the number of unnecessary prostate biopsies and allows a targeted biopsy to be performed if required.

What is the Prostate Diagnostic Pathway?
The Prostate Diagnostic Pathway is an innovative, streamlined, evidence based rapid access pathway for the diagnosis of prostate cancer.
You do not need a GP referral and we will assign you onto one of the two prostate diagnostic pathways available based on your age, symptoms, and PSA (prostate specific antigen) level.

Prostate Diagnostic Pathway: Multi Parametric Magnetic Resonance Imaging (mpMRI) before consultation OR consultation with a urologist prior to mpMRI
Depending on your symptoms, this pathway will enable you to access a specialist consultant Urologist and if required a mpMRI scan (multi parametric magnetic resonance imaging).
You will be referred to this pathway if you meet the age threshold and have a raised PSA (prostate specific antigen) result .
