Men’s Health Week: Shoulder-to-shoulder for early cancer detection

Men’s Health Week 2025 carries the powerful theme: “Shoulder-to-Shoulder: Connecting for Health”. This year, the focus is on fostering connection, empathy, and action to bridge the gaps in men’s health, especially around early detection and support.

At Check4Cancer, we’re proud to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with men across the UK, helping them take control of their health through accessible, fast, and accurate cancer screening.

Why Men’s Health Week matters

Men in the UK are less likely than women to seek help for health concerns, and more likely to be diagnosed with cancer at a later stage.

One in five men dies before the age of 65, and preventable or treatable cancers like prostate, bowel, and lung still account for thousands of male deaths each year.

This week is a timely reminder: don’t wait, check.

Early detection saves lives.

Prostate cancer: Know your risk

Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in UK men, with over 47,000 new cases diagnosed each year. Black men and those with a family history are at even higher risk. Despite its prevalence, early-stage prostate cancer often has no symptoms, making regular screening essential.

Bowel cancer: Spot the signs early

Bowel cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the UK, but it's highly treatable when caught early. Men over 50 are at increased risk, and symptoms can often be missed or misattributed to less serious conditions.

Lung cancer: Catch it early if you’re at risk

Lung cancer is one of the most serious cancers affecting men in the UK, and outcomes are far better when it’s caught early. That’s why it’s crucial for men who smoke or have smoked to be aware of their risk.

This week is a call to action: to talk, to check, and to act.

How Check4Cancer supports men

At Check4Cancer, we offer early cancer detection services for:

Prostate
Our Prostate Cancer Screening Test is available to men aged 40 and above. It can be done in the privacy of their own home, without a GP referral.

Lung
Our Lung Cancer Screening Test - a CT scan available at nationwide locations - is designed for qualifying customers aged 50+ with a heavy smoking history.

We also offer skin cancer screening and diagnostics, as well as bowel and prostate genetic cancer risk tests.
