Why skin screening?

Skin cancer is the most common cancer in the UK, and early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes. While many skin changes are harmless, identifying potential concerns early can ensure timely intervention.

Check4Cancer’s Private Skin Cancer & Mole Clinic service provides:

Early identification of potential skin cancers:

including melanoma, basal cell carcinoma (BCC), and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC).

Expert assessment:

skin cancer specialists analyse high-quality images taken by trained nurses.

Nationwide clinics:

ensuring accessibility and convenience.

Regular screening helps monitor changes in moles and localised skin concerns, providing peace of mind and enabling early action.

Why choose Check4Cancer for skin cancer screening?

When it comes to skin cancer screening, not all providers offer the same level of service or tests that are appropriate for skin cancer screening. This is what sets us apart from other providers, ensuring you receive the highest standard of support and clinical care.

FAQs

What can I expect at my skin cancer screening and mole clinic appointment?

Your consultation with a skin cancer specialist nurse will include:

  • A full-body skin assessment to identify any concerning areas.
  • Tips and guidance on self-examination, skin care, and sun protection.
  • A thorough examination using dermoscopy, where the deeper layers of the skin are assessed.
  • High-quality digital and dermoscopic images of any suspicious skin changes or moles, if necessary.
  • We provide education and awareness, including take-home information to aid safe skin health

Our service is all-inclusive, meaning there is no extra charge for images taken during your appointment, whether it’s one mole or multiple areas under review.

What happens after my skin cancer screening and mole clinic appointment?

After your appointment:

  • A results letter will be sent to you within five working days. This letter also includes any images taken during the consultation for your records.
  • If abnormalities are found, we’ll guide you through the next steps, such as information for your GP or a private consultant for further evaluation.
What will my results letter say if images were taken during the appointment?

Your results letter may include one of two outcomes:

  1. 1. No suspicious features: If your moles or skin changes show no concerning signs, you’ll receive reassurance that no further action is needed. Based on your risk assessment, we’ll also advise when your next Skin Cancer Screening and Mole Clinic appointment should be scheduled.
  2. 2. Suspicious features identified: If concerning features are identified, you’ll be advised to seek a face-to-face consultation for further examination, which may include a biopsy and/or treatment.
What is dermoscopy?

Dermoscopy is a pain-free, non-invasive method to examine your skin in detail. Using a dermatoscope (a hand-held magnifying device), your nurse can magnify the area by up to 10 times, allowing for a closer look at any skin irregularities. A lubricant may be applied to your skin during this process, which will not cause any discomfort or irritation.

Where can I get a mole checked?

You can access our Skin Cancer Screening and Mole Clinics nationwide. Whether you’re in London, Manchester, Glasgow, or other cities like Leeds, Edinburgh, Liverpool, Belfast, Newcastle, Cardiff, or Nottingham, we make it easy to find a Check4Cancer private skin cancer check near you.
